Palmetto Hall is a beautiful 750 acre gated community on Hilton Head Island and is one of the newer communities on the island. There are over 200 acres of wetlands and nature preserves which provide gorgeous views for homeowners. The POA is very active in planning events for the community which has lent Palmetto Hall to have a “small town feel”. This community is great for young families and retirees alike free of resort condos or rentals some others on the island have. The 553 homesites reflect classic southern architecture with relaxing porches and an inviting feel.
There are plenty of the luxury amenities one might expect from a gated community such as golfing, clubhouse membership and dining, tennis, a junior Olympic sized pool, softball, beach access, and more! The two 18 hole golf courses are the Arthur Hills Course and the Robert Cupp Course. Upon its opening in 1991, the Arthur Hills Course got rave reviews and almost instantly made it into Golf Digest’s Top 10 New Courses list. The Arthur Hills course plays 6,918 yards from the back tees with a course rating of 73.8 and a slope of 139. Arthur Hill’s signature style is evident on this course with rolling fairways winding through dense trees, large greens with bunkers surrounding and plenty of crystalline lakes. Robert Cupp, Golf World’s former Architect of the Year, opened his signature course at Palmetto Hall in 1993. It used to have the highest slope rating from the back trees (152), until the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island surpassed it. Despite its difficult rating, the course continues to be recognized for its flexibility, sound shot values, and impeccable year-round conditioning.
